As we explored different cultures and traditions, we encountered artisans—keepers of age-old skills—working tirelessly with timber and wood, crafting masterpieces with their bare hands. Their work was breathtaking, but what struck us the most was how many of them remained unnoticed and unsupported. These skilled craftsmen and women, despite their dedication, often struggled to find a platform for their art, earning only meagre wages and seeing their heritage slowly fade into obscurity.

It was during these travels that the idea for Timber Kala was born. We envisioned a home decor brand that not only celebrates these artisans but also provides them with the recognition and opportunities they deserve. We wanted to create a space where traditional craftsmanship meets contemporary aesthetics, allowing people to bring meaningful, handcrafted wooden decor into their homes.

Each journey we took opened our eyes to the incredible skill and artistry behind wooden craftsmanship. From the intricate carvings of Rajasthan to the functional yet artistic timber furniture of Southeast Asia, we saw the passion and history embedded in every piece. However, we also witnessed the struggles of these artisans. Many were confined to local markets, unable to reach a wider audience, and forced to settle for unfair prices that did not reflect their talent. That’s when we decided to step in—to uplift these workers, preserve their craft, and bring their remarkable artistry into homes across the world.

Thus, Timber Kala was born. The name reflects our purpose:
